Mr. Vice's mother wanted so badly to say "The police dept. didn't care about these women because they were black…" Blase…….

  • Kevin Kiso

I keep hearing the same repeated myth that the black community isn't responsible for its own navigation… which is just wrong. And I was taught by my parents that until I accept responsibility for my actions and behaviors I won't be able to make any changes in my life.

God fucking cant take a vice video serious crying racist shit dumb ass blm want take body cameras away wonder why. …. because people lie and cops lives are getting saved by them

I can't imagine the smell on that streets…and those businesses got blamed. My god the police work on this was appalling for years…. Just Crazy

It pisses me off that he was a convicted rapist that was freed from jail and he went on to rape and murder multiple women. Rapists shouldn't be released from jail and neither should serial killers. They only cause more damage to other human beings. Anyone that rapes another person or murders innocent people don't deserve to be happy and live free.

Rest in peace to the women who lost their lives because of this man. My heart goes out to his victims of sexual assault that lived. I'm so sorry all of this had to happen because of negligent authority who failed to protect those people.

This is so disturbing and the fact no one has heard this mans name is also disturbing. I had known about this but I have studied killings like these. I just want to say, I understand how we get so wrapped up in our own bubble and people on drugs or homeless are ignored. But know that no one ever sets out to be a drug addict, no one sets out to be homeless. It's a serious of unfortunate events and a few bad choices that led them there. They're human too, they are just like everyone else except they are likely even more depressed than anyone else, in worse health and such. That crack addict woman walking down the street talking to herself, looking like she hasnt changed clothes in a week is still someones baby, she could be someones mother, sister. She was once a normal functioning woman, worked, had a home, goals and dreams. Something happens in their lives usually so bad that it leads them to want to escape temporarily and then before you know it, it becomes a full blown addiction and the drug of choice becomes your entire world. But… every addict doesn't want to be that. They want to have a family, work, a home, a car. Once you're that far down and have no help, it seems pointless and hopeless to even try. My aunt is a dr and works specifically with addicts and I've learned so much about them from her. I guess my point is… dont ignore them.. smile at them, say hello.. they're human. Trust that they would much prefer not to be begging you for money.

Holy shit how many women had to tell the cops about this man before they decided to do anything???? So many women would still be alive.

  • Michael Inglis

Damn lol that family is like too perfect! I love seeing familys like that they arent the norm these days.

  • Michael Inglis

25:00 That guy was really respectful of the victims, that was amazing. When asked how those women were when he met them he basically says i dont know cause he realized that they weren't themselves. They were in their addiction and lost but not bad people. They had dreams and people who loved them. They were just broken. Im 6 years clean and think the way that guy answered that question was really really cool. I wish more people saw things the way he does.

Georgia Hussain needs to be held accountable for deaths after releasing this evil man as well as the other detectives.

I don't understand how the hell the Sex Offender officers did not realize the horrendous smell of the rotten bodies while doing their routine check-up.

Also, Cleveland Police needs to be sued in a civil case for negligence or something! God damn this is scary; Reminds me of Buffalo Police.

  • christian goff

Dumb crack whore caused lives to be took just cause she wouldnt go into a police station get the fuck outta here bitch

  • Nick Nation

If this problem with uncountable women being sexually harassed sexually assaulted sexual unwanted touching bullied and killed by thousands of men and increasing then it will get worse. When a problem gets ignored and goes unchecked, what happens?

  • Roger Winters

THE POOR ALWAYS GET PUSHED TO THE SIDE, THIS WORLD IS A SAD PLACE TO LIVE, GOOD PEOPLE NEVER COUNT EVEN IF YOU ARE ON DRUGS OR PROSTITUTE YOU STILL COUNT. THIS IS HOW THE POLICE TREAT POOR BLACK PEOPLE THIS IS SAD. THE CITY SHOULD DO SOMETHING WONDERFUL TO THAT LOT SO IT COULD AT LEAST EASE SOME PAIN, AND LAST THE BASTARD IS STILL ALIVE, COME ON DO YOUR JOB, GET RID OF HIM ALREADY.

  • red mercury

wow. i hate to admit this but i have never heard of this man before. this is something the entire country should know about. its a nightmare. what is going on in this mans mind? its terrifying! the scariest part is that it couldve happened to any of us women. how many men do we think we know? this man was nice to these women. he gained their trust. and then he brutally murdered them and slept next to the corpses as they rotted inside his dungeon. this is scary. GEORGIA HUSSEIN YOU OUGHT TO BE ASHAMED OF YOURSELF

  • red mercury

the sad thing is, this police department assigns cops to districts. they dont have the choice to choose whitey over a black girl. this was just pure indifference. cops not wanting to do their jobs. i say cops but i should really just say "Georgia Hussein." i wonder how she feels -if she even cares that she is to blame for so many more women being brutally slain? what reason did she have to let him go?? did he flirt with her?? was it some other inconsequential reason she took pity on a monster? how many times has she let bad men back onto the streets?? i wonder if she blames society for some reason only she can understand. its a damn shame cops in a district cant do their jobs. but then you have others who DO want to do their jobs but are stalemate because of the shoddy work of other cops like Georgia Hussein

  • Tamarama

I agree that law enforcement really dropped the ball and am so sad for the loss of these ladies lives.
    But …
The families and the community need to look at themselves in the mirror as well. NOBODY helped them! NOBODY cared. Why is your community full of crack. Why are these women ignored when they clearly need help. Don't tell me all those neighbours did not see these women go in and not come out. Don't tell me you did not hear their screams! That one man just stepped off when a WOMAN JUMPED OUT A FUCKING WINDOW TO ESCAPE because the naked man said, That's my woman! All of you who saw or heard or suspected anything and did nothing have these women's blood on your hands as well.
You can blame the law all you want, and indeed they are to blame for this going on for so long. But YOU ALL WERE RIGHT FUCKING THERE! And YOU did nothing either.

  • Dirk Diggler

Those 2 black detectives were on point.. they knew their shit. Sad it always takes longer than we wish for them to get caught

  • Penny Sue

POS sleeps during the trial, like it and his poor victims are nothing!

Superb Documentary. As others have said, I love how he focuses more on the Beautiful lives of the victims, victims families, as well as, the men and women whom, put their all into these types of cases.
Intriguing and very important aspects of these horrible crimes.
Wish to see more from this young man.
One of my favorite VICE pieces too.

  • Bree Dickhart

Dammit when Vanessa repeats “nobody helped me” I broke the f*** down.
People get frozen in fear when faced with another person in a panic. The inaction to react to a fellow human beings pleas for help is not uncommon.
***One tip is if you are ever in a dangerous situation and need immediate help point directly at people and ask them to call 911.

The call to action will work 100% more effectively.
Just another survival tip to keep in mind while the police and justice system leaves us to fend off dangerous predators ourselves.
    😭😭😭

These women deserved so much better than this, there is no justification or reason why completely incompetent/insufficient/corrupt and negligent officers and were allowed to serve this community.

  • Mad Lib

The public says it's the police's fault, the police say it's the systems fault. Guess what? The system isn't a person so I dont see how it's going to change. Victims need to be more forthright, they need to advocate for themselves even if police call them dramatic or whatever. And police need to talk to their superiors and try to make systemic changes.

  • Nothing but the truth Brown

It took 11 women to be killed before Cleveland internal investigation where the hell they thought 11 women went wow sad State we live in

  • Plague Doctor

"If this had happened in a rich neighbourhood, someone would have noticed the smell and it would have been dealt with earlier"
    Later
"A police officer visited the house. Somehow she failed to notice the smell of rotting bodies inside"
So clearly your mother is an idiot.

  • Howard Conover

It's amazing how many crimes like this occur and how law enforcement procedures are exposed as flawed yet those flaws are never addressed or corrected.

  • Natasha Everafter

Absolutley unacceptable, and thoroughly heartbreaking. So many lives destroyed. Then, to add (even more) insult to injury: the house where these vile, atrocious acts were committed simply gets torn down. And there it sits, just a cold, empty space. There's no memorial to these ladies whatsoever. Not one flower or tree, not even a sign or a plaque acknowledging the many lives lost-and the many more affected, and forever changed-at the hands of this monster. We also saw that promises were made to the victim's families to pay for their loved one's headstones, and five years on: no such thing has been done.
I pray for all the victim's, their families, and especially their children. As well as the ladie's that escaped.
💔I'll never forget the pain, indifference, and injustice you've all endured.💔

  • Ryan J

Wait, wait, wait….. you mean to tell me in the late 2000’s there was no standard for taking rape reports? That’s a damn travesty!! Talk about dropping the ball! I hope she sued their ass off in that city. As a former US Marine myself this crazed bastard is a damn embarrassment to the Corps. No excuses for his behavior.

  • Tra Trazy

I remember watching about this on Amazon Prime and in the documentry the *store owner Elias Tayeh said Stowell did the community a favor by killing them they where trash anyway*. I was never as sick to my stomach as I was hearing him say that. Because they had addiction they where nothing to him. But the community dollars was good enough for his pockets rather it was 10cent or $20.

  • Naomi yesitsme

How many times does this guy need to be reported to the police ,and they didn't even go check it out of talk to the dude .shocked ,he could have been stopped before all those women got killed

  • J M

It is easy to blame the police afterwards but hindsight is 20/20 and a lot of that community believes it is wrong to work with them.

  • Kevia K.

tht bastard would NOT be allowed to close his fckn eyes and try to nap while court is going on if i was the judge.. the police didnt gaf and the damn judges dnt either.. damn shame man!!

  • Estrada603

"theyll believe a small white woman over a ghetto black woman thats just the way it is" EXCEPT YOURE THE DETECTIVE WTF

  • Christina M

Watching Sowell speak, it seems like he has some sort of speech impediment, a common trait in serial-killer profiles. Maybe speech impediments are just common, and if one already has schizophrenic tendencies, the burden of having an impediment (being teased, being extra frustrated in communication you so badly need,) can push one over the edge into depression, which can lead to schizophrenia.

It might be true that people hooked on rock can act in bizarre manners that would make anyone think twice before taking them seriously just at their word. It might also be true that cops patrolling urban, poverty ridden environments will understandably get run down from overtime hours clocked due to understaffed departments and desensitized to the human plight after having to enforce the same policies aimed at punishing addicts year after year, especially after most veteran officers have long ago come to realize they have become a large part of the problem, doing more harm than good by further demoralizing people suffering more than most will ever know possible and turning the community into a police state.
What strikes a cord with some of the accounts described between victims of Sowell and police is that the officers didn’t simply act complacent, rude or judgmental; they seemed to exhibit an attitude towards terrified, critically wounded, sometime fully nude females that would only make sense for the average person to understand if looking from a viewpoint of hatred. If a terrified, bloodied, nude female is flagging you down, or attempting to reach emergency services for help only to be met with apathy, snickering or disdain, I don’t really see how there could be a understandable explanation for that behavior from any human being, let alone someone who has trained and worked years in a career aimed at serving those in need of help during times of an emergency.
The fact the Cleveland (broke as the city may be) has done nothing to change the culture of their police after the handling of a serial killer case where more than a dozen women were raped, tortured, murdered and the few survivors that had encounters with the killer were treated so despicably the department became nearly on the same level of culpability as the killer himself is a testament to the now over abundantly clear fact the an independent oversight council to act as a watchdog for out of hand police tactics and corruption is more needed now than ever before.

  • Shawn Messick

How is this possible. Democrats run the city of Cleveland and that is supposedly the party that cares about black people. The Democratic party sucks, and they let us down over and over.

  • Matt Byam

So sad, that pople of color get this treatment. I wish I was a millionaire so I could help, this is so sad . God help the family that are left behind…..rip

  • Laura Scholer-B

It doesn’t matter your case load or burn out level: the evidence is obvious, people were chosen to be ignored and evidence overlooked

  • Christina Penner

I truly hope that the officers who didn’t do their job, couldn’t live with themselves. It may sound harsh but if you knew that lives depended on you to do ur fucking job, my God fucking do it! Piece of shit cops always have a mother fucking excuse. Oh I slipped and killed that guy, I’m burned out so many more woman were killed. Fuck you, you biased piece of shits, everyone of you that let this happen.

  • Melanie Baxter

I was reading about the settlements and some are still not paid and those that have been are disgustingly less than one would imagine. 6 families split $2 million. So 166,666 thousand dollars pre taxes to split between the entire family? some of the victims had little kids!!! One family settled for a lowely $2000. You can get more than that for a slip and fall… It really shows how little Cleveland thinks of these women.

  • Mark Miranda

The people of Cleveland of shit holes. Imagine a woman begging you for help naked and bleeding saying she’s been attacked and you say get out. What wastes of space.

  • Wynter Cunningham

I'm sorry but the system fail these women and I think its because they were on drugs & black I pray they find peace☮ in the afterlife that they didn't get here on 🌏 Earth ❤️

  • [email protected]

Let me get this straight. Prostitutes, and drug addicts spend 100% of their time avoiding Police. They find areas where they can commit crimes in an place where people don't care about their own community, and then wonder why no-one reported it? C'mon y'all stop placing blame on the Gub'ment, and take accountability for your own living situations/conditions.

Rich places stay rich, and protected because they actually pay property taxes to the city, state, and country. Pretty simple in all reality.

  • JC Visuals

I've had a rat die in my parent's AC unit in the roof… it the smell was worst in room the AC unit is over. The decomposing body we couldn't get out, smelled to freaking bad. Idk how this guy could handle the smell of multiple decomposing bodies.

  • Numba Juan

I feel so bad. The fear those women felt and physical torture they went through before being killed was horrendous. The ones that lived still suffering as well.

  • Numba Juan

We need better training & psych evaluations more frequently. Fucking Cops dropping the ball left and right. The public does a better job then most police.

  • R424 In Da Cut

All this mofo had to say to the families of the victims was "SORRY THIS IS NOT TYPICAL OF ME" AFTER THE DIRST MURDER AND RAPE YOU KILLED AND RAPED 10 MORE BLOODY SICK FUCK AND YOU SAY ITS NOT TYPICAL OF YOU . . MAY YOU ROT IN HELL IN THE DEEPEST pits of fires. . .

  • J.K Fitz

Ohhmygoodness !!! The Cleveland cops dropped the Ball !!! Thankfully Billips spoke up or the loser would have kept killing ….Prayers for all the women that lost their lifes and their families. So sad

  • Dria💜

This is bullshit, and an absolute disgrace! The city should be sued, the department should be sued and every officer/de textile that decided to look away, not help, and not give a shit should be sued! The LEAST they can do is make that lot into a beautiful place for the families of those who were lost, give them headstones, and offer consulting! This makes me so mad on so many levels!

  • John QPublic

So in other words people, these folks wouldn’t pay for their own family’s grave stones! Instead they place blame at the governments feet and talk about how the “government” didn’t get her buried! And her dislike of Cleveland!!!??! Really!!??? What about all the TAX PAYERS money spent to bury your kin folk? Get the fuck outta here!

  • Necro Orcen

Could you imagine trying to escape that house and theres bodies decomposing around every corner??..

    that's an actual nightmare scenario

  • Living the Life

What bs. If someone so much as dare mention the serial killer could possible be black the whole black community cries racism. Look up black serial killers.
They aren't reported on because blacks want to say only whites are serial killers. A town ran by blacks filled with black cops and yet it's not the black serial killer's fault it's the fault of the white boogieman.
The family not getting a tombstone for their mother is disgusting. Get a brick or a large stone chisel at date on it. Place it there so you don't have to dig to find the marker.

  • Stoli Blue

    I'm sorry but God..
