wide discipline comprising of land administration, land use,
planning, land use zoning, land valuation, land economics, et cetera. FABIAN BARRAGAN REYES: For me, land
management is about good planning. You focus, of course, in the best
and better resources, distribution, and usage. SHARAD CHANDRA MAINALI:
So as a Technical U grad, I have just a lot of problems
regarding land conflicts. So it is lack of proper
land management tools. So I think land management plays
a vital role in such conditions. SHAHD ALMUKHTAR: Land
management for me is making the maximum
advantage of the Earth we are living on without destroying it. SPEAKER 1: Experts from different
areas have varying experiences in and demands on land management. It is not easy to standardize the
objectives and tasks of land management with respect to permanent global
changes and particular requirements of different countries. Land management combines
technologies, policies, and activities to analyze key tasks, like the
regulation and documentation of land use and land ownership; the
preservation and increase of the productive capabilities of land;
and the implementation of clear land administration structures
and responsibilities. In general, it can be said
that land management is a knowledge-based
procedure that balances environmental, economic, and
social needs with respect to maintaining and increasing
land and its resources for the benefit of future generations. This task is pursued by the
Chair of Land Management, led by university professor
Dr. Walter de Vries. DR. WALTER DE VRIES: As a
Chair of Land Management, we teach, research, and do consulting
on various aspects of land management. These involve issues such as cadastral
registration, land use planning, and village renewal. These things are very important at both
the national and international level. And we try to understand things better
and create better solutions for them. SPEAKER 1: The targets of this course,
Introduction to Land Management, are to understand actual
challenges and activities of a land manager; to get a general understanding
of the tasks and objectives of land management by discussing topics
like land administration, land use planning, land regulations,
and land policies; to understand important key terms
of land management, like land tenure, village renewal, or land
consultation, and their contexts; and to get a basis for further
land management studies. ANTHONY IKECHUKWU AGBOEZE: The most
important part of the course to me is the aspect of global land [INAUDIBLE]
because it’s been able to address, in a simple way, what land is
all about and how it’s going to apply in all parts of the world. Right now, I’m actually
motivated to do more in search of knowledge and further
education into land management. DR. WALTER DE VRIES: The
target group of this course is anybody who has some
activity in relation to land. It is very exciting. You have to deal with information. You have to deal with people. You have to deal with technologies. You have to deal with creative
and innovative solutions. So if you’re the person that is capable
of doing that, please join this course.
