GTA san Andreas SFUR introduced house to me 15 years ago
6:06 — F & Eb is more appropriate.
But this style… yeah, you know it when it comes on.
The Debussy and Satie link is quite a reach.
Well that was inspiring !
His sound has been taken from without the proper recognition. And totally co-opted!!
Massive thunbs up… xxx 😉
Heresy to house music, it's soul music where pure house is electronic.
I love SAY-TEE's Gym-na-PEE-DEE
Q: What was the last thing the drummer said before he was kicked out of the band? A: "Hey guys, I have an idea for a song…"
I guess he wasnt… Heard
It's pronounced "Satti"!! not "Satiiiess.." my gaaawd! smh!!
king larry!!! great video 😀 check out my new track cherry bomb 🙂 i make electronic dance/ house music. thanks!
this video is so good, however i do feel like they didn't really showcase the diversity of his production as much as they could have.
Deep house was just more sub bass….and little slower…..
say-teeee in the house 😄
Track ID for 7:31 please?
At 5:40 was the first track that sparked my love for Deep House music. I first heard it in 1989 on WBLS and WKTU NY. Never got a chance to record it – in those days, catching the song you want in its entirety was hit or miss, and I didn't have a name for it. Enter Google in 2015 – found this song recently posted and it (and the instrumental dub) was on my iPod in time for my 25th anniversary vacation.
who is that at 7:30
ok guys really hip hop music black people house music black people the best DJs in the world black people what the fuck we gonna do without black people
Deep House gets you high without Class As
Bro that track isn’t even close to gymnopedie
Oh my gaaaaaawwwwwwwwd. This takes me back. I am a Chicago native who was a true house head in the day. I was class of 1985. Some of these kids today just don't know. 😊😊😊😊😊😊👏👏👏👏👏👏
2:51 Chip E – Jack For Daze (Dub)
Never let another nation tell your story, They’ll try to have your history lead back to them every time.
The same way they tell the story of Christ.Knowing damn well Christ was…. Nevermind 🤷🏽♂️
Is that Marlon Jackson yelling can you feel it
„Deep house mixes” with chicks on the miniatures are the biggest cancer of YouTube.
Does anyone know the track that starts at 0:31 seconds?
The video was great and I appreciate it, but damn these could go somewhere I felt cucked after the abrupt 8 minute ending. Bust out some solid documentaries!
You’ll only find vibes like this in the underground!! Real chi house heads kno!!!
Did Larry Heard about this
Damn yeah, he made that shit deeper. And as long as he lives, he'll continue to pursue his passion.
do a documentary on frankie knuckles alot of his house music is deep too
JACK invented house music
You gotta love how the the narrator throws in her White Supremacist views in how she compares WHITES music to Larry Howard's. Like Larry really tried to copy WHITE musicians….FOH!
I should have been born 20 years earlier…
ALOT OF THESE SONGS ARE ON THE SAN ANDREAS
someone wanna check out my track PixR and tell me if it's deep? xD
I keep replaying that last bit. Larry Heard is as great a human/ speaker as he is a musical renaissance man
Thank you for thiss
house music was born in belgium , we started it and now its global .we were dancing on it in the 90 in boccacio.
Good journalism right here… Informative, and inspires by pushing the sense of breakthrough…
Electronic music & synth samples were played in Europe in the seventies???? I really don't think you can say WHO started house but just enjoy & grasp what it meant to you when hearing it for the first time! Especially when on one🙂
Kerry Chandler is one of the main pioneers of real Deep House music. Most house music out there isnt real house music. Disclosure is pop music not house music. Only a select few can are modern day masters of this sound such as Spen, Vega, Kenny Dope, Karizma, Jovonn, Sandy Rivera, morales, sanchez, Felliciano etc. Like Jovonn said real house music must have the elements. If it dont have the elements it aint house music. Not everyone understands house music!
THE LAST SONG PLEEEASSE
White people ALWAYS trying to act like Black Music has its origins in white music somehow. No matter how you try to analyze it, you do not possess the source.
If you know it so well you would have done it.
"Mystery of Love" changed my life
This is the best channel.
Thanks! Cool stuff !
Deep my ass!!!!!! Hahahahahaha
Jimmy The Hand From Sydney said that he went to see Larry Heard in Australia a few weeks ago and he was (shite) i don’t know because i wasn’t there. But i used to love Mr Fingers.
Roots and Culture !
Larry Heard, we love you!
Deep used to be called prog. Now prog is that EDM shyte.
Amazing… I can even begin to describe the thermal rift this you tube put me on. I love this. Incredibly educational. I LOVE IT! I remember the first time I heard real techno back with the Orb etc…I had no idea how back it went. LOVE IT Thank you so much for this.
Saytee and Jimnateedee lol!
Loads of bullshit!!!
Alright, I'll tell you all my secret. When it's shit music, you'll see hot babes in the thumbnail, when it's good shit, it'll be just a vinyl.
never heard of the guy
Thank you so much. House music takes me across the gamut of emotions in lush, sweeping style with just one track. Long live house music. Thank you Mr. Heard.
If you don´t know what kind of Music do you just made, you did it right!
Great piece… could have done without the Classical & Romance Musical comparisons, tho… and the House Music Anthem is a classic that should not be denied! I don’t care if it’s a 1-4-5 … it’s catchy AF and has served both House & Techno well as Anthem & Sample Source!
Fuck. I cant believe i never heard of this guy. This is exactly the kindof music i love listening to /producing. Im ashamed of myself for not knowing but im happy i know now
In voice-overs, less is more.
british racism is in full force here, ignoring blues and using the trogs instead. spoils every one of these videos. what would work better is if they said: hey, white audience! heres the long tradition of black music that house music is deeply a part of. now, heres a few examples people who dont listen to black music might be familiar with.
Black people owns music period!
He just made House…along with Larry Levan. 'Deep' is incedental. Just 'House' music people.
I get deep, I get deep, I get deep, I get deeper
Into this thing The deeper I go The more knowledge I know…
"uses half steps" = complex and moodier feel??
This is a great video, but that really didn't make much sense
The song on the background, i wonder who's the artist
Psy trance music is far more hypnotic
Juno 60. Nice touch 🙂
House music was under ground for years . I love how the narrator breaks down the chord progressions 😊.
Can You Feel It chords : CMaj7/G – Fmaj7 – Em7I don't think first chord is C6/G like you play.
Eric Saytee's Jimnopeedee used a seventh chord
I remember the first time I heard (no pun intended) Larry's "Mr. Fingers – Can U feel It" on my walkman when vacationing in Virginia Beach VA in the late 80's…the local FM radio station DJ was spinning an awesome set of great house music…needless to say 30 yrs later I'm still hooked on that sound :0) Thank you Larry and all the other early house pioneers!
The current Ibiza house New York house and European house are not as diverse or deep like Larry Hearn's
The current Ibiza house, New York house and European house are not as diverse or deep like Larry Hearn's Chicago house. Yet, when traveling UK London house, Berlin house and is holding it down.
can i get my houghton refund
Fascinating, thanks for sharing!
comparing larry heard to debussy is pretty rich.
Great video documentary on Larry Heard and Deep house!!!
i always love explaining deep house to people then realize it's no use, i always end it with, "you just have to feel it to know"
The only thing ADOS didnt invent was HATE.
wow you’re right, it does sound like say-tee’s jim-no-peedee Number 1
Still all opinion.
There’s too much emphasis on genre and roots these days.
1:42 – Totally Denzel Washington when he was a teenager! Nailed!
I loved the scene when house was just house. Before it split into a ridiculous amount of endless genres like deep, jackn, tropical, tech, etc etc etc. The house scene was good until the mid 90s then it died in the arse. Sure there are still good records being made but the scene sucks arse. Bunch of millennial clueless retards at parties these days and DJ egos out of control. I won’t go to a party where they have DJ on stage with name in lights and everyone arms in the air worshipping. It’s lame AF.
So bored of all this wanking over who started it and what genre it is. It’s tedious. Nobody cares who started it except some wanker djs with over swollen egos. Claiming that Larry heard realised that “music not only makes people dance but also feel something” is a stupid thing to claim. Music of all kinds has always made people feel something. As far as the people in the comments who find it necessary to claim that black people created it well nobody cares except you. Black people have always been at the forefront of some good music because the struggles they have endured come through in their music and so a lot of it has been historically very raw and soulful so what you’re saying is nothing profound. Sadly today it’s no longer the case and the mainstream is full of black artists making pathetically awful music. End of the day I don’t care who made it, black or white, or what genre it is, if it’s good music then that’s all that matters. I danced to Fingers inc, Marshal Jefferson, Frankie Knuckles, Sueno Latino etc etc in the 80s and I appreciate the quality music they made but I have zero fucks to give about who started it.
This video attempts to credit the source of house music as white Europeans, because according to the video that is where Heard got his info. It's garbage. I suppose the beats originally come from Europe too, right? Because house is popular in Europe all the sudden Europe is the origin of House. This is pitiful. I was in Chi town in the 80's when House was born, it didn't have anything to do with white Europeans. Stop trying to change history. This video is garbage.
This and Underground Solution – Luv Dancin were the pinnacle of deep house sophistication
I really would love to see that live larry heard band at the end in concert sometime .. But this is Australia.. None of the decent artists or bands ever come here apart from the awful commercial 'big shots' and if an artist like Larry DID come, he wouldnt come to my side of the country guaranteed
