Cincinnati Board of Realtors says man is stealing jewelry at open houses

MAN. I SAY EVERY REALTOR SHOULD BE WATCHING.>>SOCIETY HAS CHANGED. IT’S NOT APPLE PIE AND GRANDMA ANYMORE, SADLY. DAN: RODNEY JACKSON IS IN THE FINAL STAGES OF SELLING HIS SHARONVILLE HOME. BUT THIS TIME AROUND, HIS REAL ESTATE AGENT TOLD HIM NO OPEN HOUSE. HER CONCERN IS HER SAFETY AND THE SAFETY OF HER CUSTOMERS, AND SHE FEELS THAT IT’S NOT WORTH THE RISK. DAN: IT’S NO SURPRISE WHY, AFTER THE LATEST ALERT FROM THE CINCINNATI AREA BOARD OF REALTORS. VICE PRESIDENT KELLY MEYER SAYS THEY RECEIVED INFORMATION FROM THE HAMILTON COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE, THAT A MAN IS VISITING OPEN HOUSES AND STEALING JEWELRY. THEY SAY HE’S SIGNING IN WITH A FAKE PHONE NUMBER AND ADDRESS WITH THE NAME BOB WRIGHT.>>IT’S AN ALARMING THING. YOU GET THE ALERT AND THEN YOU START THINKING AND QUESTIONING YOURSELF ABOUT EVERY OPEN HOUSE OR EVERY SHOWING. DAN: MEYER SAYS OFTENTIMES THERE’S ONLY ONE AGENT AT AN OPEN HOUSE AND MANY PEOPLE COULD COME INSIDE FOR A LOOK.>>IF IT’S OF SIGNIFICANT VALUE OR SIGNIFICANT VALUE TO YOU, GET IT OUT OF THERE DAN: HE SAYS MANY REALTORS WALK HOMEOWNERS THROUGH PRECAUTIONS AND PROCEDURES, AND GET TO KNOW PROSPECTIVE BUYERS. FOR JACKSON, NO OPEN HOUSE WORKED OUT.>>I DO WONDER, WOULD IT HAVE SOLD QUICKER IF WE’D HAD THE OPEN HOUSE, BUT LIKE I SAID, MY AGENT WAS LOOKING OUT FOR ME AND I THINK SHE DID A GREAT JOB AND SHE’S A GREAT PERSON. DAN: HE SAYS THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF OPEN HOUSES EVERY WEEK. MAKE SURE YOUR PRIZED POSSESSIONS ARE NOT IN VIEW HE
